Murat Yazıcı: ''We monitor Istanbul 24/7 from AKOM''22 August 2019 Thursday
IMM Deputy Secretary General Murat Yazıcı, on the orders of İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu, followed the work and precautions taken at AKOM (the Disaster Coordination Center of Istanbul City) due to the rain that affected Istanbul for days. Afterwards, Yazıcı gave information to the members of the press and said, "Due to the expected rainfall starting from the morning hours, our units have been warned and they have been instructed to be present at the relevant points. 4 thousand 500 personnel, about 700 thousand construction equipment and related equipment are used for these services ”.

Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), closely monitors the measures taken against rain and floods in the city. Following the instructions of the President İmamoğlu, IMM Assistant Secretary Murat Yazıcı closely followed the work carried out at the Disaster Coordination Center AKOM. Mr. Yazıcı received information from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, İSKİ (Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration), Road Maintenance, Environmental Protection, Park & Gardens, IMM Traffic, Municipal Police teams and ☎️153 White Desk Onsite representatives.

Murat Yazıcı then went before the cameras and gave information about the work carried out by the IMM teams.
“Our units have been warned and instructed to be present at the relevant points against the possible downsides to them because of the rainfall that is expected from the morning hours today,” said Mr. Yazıcı, who stressed that Istanbul was being monitored 24/7 with cameras in AKOM.

“THERE HAVE BEEN NO DISRUPTIONS TO TRANSPORT”

Noting that the rainfall is particularly effective on the Anatolian Side, Yazıcı said: "In some districts, up to 20-25 kilograms of precipitation, which we describe as 'moderate heavy rainfall', was seen. In Kadikoy and Şile, 50 kilograms of precipitation was observed per square meter, which is described as 'heavy rainfall'. After these rains, some underpasses and Metrobus stations were ponded, but thanks to the preparations of our units, these lakes were completely eliminated. It has been corrected to ensure that there are no disruptions in any service or transportation. Clean-up works are currently underway."

"WE EXPECT THE CONTRIBUTION OF OUR CITIZENS"

Stating that the rainfall in Istanbul was expected to continue as "light rainfall" until 19:00, "We do not expect any problems. The entire process is monitored through our cameras. All adversities are intervened through our representatives. In this context, the process is accelerated with the notices of our citizens. We are waiting for the contributions of our citizens at the points we cannot see or detect." said Mr. Yazıcı and added that 4 thousand 500 staff in the field were on duty on the scene and around 700 thousand machines and equipment were being used in the field.
