Stating that the Fire Department has a history of more than 300 years and a deep-rooted organization from the Ottoman Empire to the present day, Mr. President of the Assembly said: "In Istanbul, more than 50 fire incidents occurred today. Our organization intervened in these events and saved both the lives and property of our citizens. We're talking about such a sacred organization. While people are in their homes with their family, children and loved ones to enter the new year, you are on the alert on your duty in this station. Saving lives is a very sublime work, putting your own life into the flames, saving a child, saving an old person in an emergency. You have such a sacred profession."

He continued "If you search what organisation first rush into a scene, this is the Fire Department. You are the ones who do not sleep and always on alert while the citizens sleep well on their beds knowing you will do your best for their lives. On behalf of Istanbulites, I would like to thank all of you for my country."

Mr. President wearing a firefighter outfit ended his visit by celebrating the new year of all the firefighters.
