Istanbul’s Beaches Reopens On June 1514 June 2020 Sunday
Istanbul’s public beaches are ready to welcome swimmers on Monday, June 15, 2020, after completing preparations to guard against the spread of the coronavirus.

Beaches throughout Istanbul were closed due to the outbreak of COVID-19, but will be reopened Monday as part of the steps toward normalization as case numbers have dropped.

The entrance fees will be the same as last season at IMM’s beaches, which will be operated this year by BELTUR Inc., a subsidiary of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM).

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) opens 2020 season with the Caddebostan Beaches -1, 2,3 on the Anatolian Side and “Güneş” and “Menekşe” beaches on the European Side on June 15, 2020. 

Beachgoers will be served at the municipal beaches run by BELTUR Inc., between 8.00 a.m. and 19.00 p.m. until the end of the summer.

Beach lounge chairs have been placed at least 2 meters apart, in line with social distancing rules laid out by the municipality, while disinfectant is readily available in common areas. Officials are ensuring regular disinfection is carried out in changing cabins and throughout the beach facilities.

In addition, Beltur Inc., offers changing cabins, shower areas and umbrellas for swimmers and sunbathers in each of the beaches. There are also buffets and cafeterias for food and beverage needs.

IMM-Run Beaches of Istanbul

Menekşe Beach

This public beach with 630 meters coastline is free and located near Küçükçekmece. Rescue boat and ambulance are kept ready against possible situations Menekşe Beach has a parking lot of 120 vehicles.

Güneş Beach

Güneş Beach, the longest public beach in Istanbul at 840 meters, serves in two sections. Located just across the Florya Train Station in the district of Bakırköy on the European side of the metropolis and a cool holiday corner for Istanbulites in summer, it has a beach volleyball court and a parking lot for 240 cars.

Caddebostan Beaches

Caddebostan has 3 different municipal beaches with a total length of 1000 meters. Possible situations against the zodiac rescue boat and ambulance waiting for the music is being broadcast on the beaches throughout the day.

450 meters long Caddebostan 1 Beach for sunbeds, umbrellas, changing cabin, shower, and WC areas for the age of 7 and above is 25 TL for adults and 12 TL for students. The fee covers usage of a sunbed, an umbrella, a changing room and a shower area.

Apart from the beaches it operates, the lifeguard teams of the IMM serve in the 38 beaches totaling 47.8 km in length across the province. Within the scope of Covid-19 measures, the life-saving service, which began on June 1st, is provided with a total of 241 personnel, 35 jet-skis, 7 Zodiac Boats, 2 Drones and 14 All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) on the beaches by the IMM.
