Collapses occurred in two two-story buildings on Ebe Street in Ayvansaray Neighborhood of Fatih District following an explosion of unknown cause. Upon receiving reports around 12:06, fire teams from Balat, Fatih, Şişli, Eyüpsultan, Alibeyköy, Bayrampaşa, Mahmutbey, Sultangazi, K-9 Dog Search and Rescue, Bakırköy, Kadıköy, Beşiktaş, Ümraniye, Kemerburgaz, Çatalca, Avcılar, Maltepe, Başakşehir, Bahçelievler, İBB-İTF-01 (INSARAG Team), Kağıthane, Kıraç, Ümraniye stations and 112 Emergency Ambulance services were dispatched to the scene.

Our teams, arriving quickly at the scene with 71 vehicles and 196 personnel, launched a long and meticulous operation, resulting in the rescue of 10 citizens from under the rubble with injuries. The body of one citizen was also recovered.

The incident also caused material damage to surrounding buildings.

Deputy Mayor Nuri ASLAN stated that the fire department is one of the most important units of the municipality and expressed his gratitude to our firefighters for their outstanding efforts and work in performing their duties. He continued by saying that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality provides uninterrupted service 24/7 and that “Holidays are celebrated with families. But we are at the beginning of our shifts with the desire and excitement to serve.”
