During drainage operations, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) teams discovered the body of a homeless person under the Unkapanı Bridge.
Drivers faced difficulty reaching their destinations due to numerous flooded potholes, while some streets and underpasses were also flooded.
Heavy showers and passing thunderstorms continue affecting the Bosphorus districts of Fatih, Beşiktaş, Sarıyer, Üsküdar, and Kadıköy.
Due to the adverse weather conditions, the Bosphorus was closed to maritime traffic. Istanbul City Lines ferries and seabuses operated by İDO and BUDO have announced a temporary disruption to their services between the European and Asian coasts.
An average rainfall of 30-40 kg per square meter was recorded in the districts of Fatih, Beşiktaş, Sarıyer, Üsküdar, Kadıköy, and Ümraniye.
IMM sent rescue teams to flood-hit areas, with a total of 2,148 personnel, 645 vehicles, and construction equipment belonging to the Fire Department, Water and Sewage Department (İSKİ), Road Maintenance Department, Environmental Protection Directorate, Parks and Gardens Directorate, IMM’s Traffic Directorate, and the Municipal Police.
In addition, IMM Secretary-General Mr. Yavuz Erkut and his technical team carefully supervised the works of the IMM on the site, particularly in the localities of Fatih and Eminönü.
