The 310th anniversary of the Istanbul Fire Department continues to be celebrated. Events are being organized all over Istanbul during the Fire Department Week. As part of the celebration events, historical firefighters and modern fire teams performed shows in Sultanahmet Square.
The events, which were attended by our Fire Department Director Mr. Remzi ALBAYRAK, our fire department directors and assistant directors, and many guests from the fire department community, attracted great interest from the public and tourists. Our İBİTEM training center's Mobile Training Vehicle and Emergency Medical teams held events in the area for social awareness. The event began with a concert by the İMM Mehteran Team. The Mehteran team gave a magnificent concert to the audience gathered in Sultanahmet Square.
After the concert, the K-9 Dog Search and Rescue team's show was presented to the audience. Afterwards, shows were performed in a miniature wooden building set up in the square, depicting the fire response of Ottoman firefighters (tulumbacılar) and modern fire teams. First, how Ottoman firefighters responded to fires in the past was visually explained. The firefighters who arrived at the scene with a piston pump then intervened in the fire by pumping water with pistons. The Ottoman firefighters' show received great applause from the audience.
After the Ottoman firefighters, modern firefighting teams also performed a drill in which they demonstrated how they intervene in a fire. Citizens and tourists who gathered in Sultanahmet Square watched the show with great interest and applause.
The program ended with a souvenir photo.
