An official ceremony was held at the Taksim Republic Monument as part of the 106th anniversary celebrations of May 19 Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. The official ceremony began with a moment of silence for Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades and all martyrs, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The ceremony ended with the laying of a wreath by Istanbul Provincial Director of Youth and Sports Mr. Muhittin Özbay. Following the end of the official ceremony, the event organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) began. Deputy Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mr. Nuri Aslan laid the IMM wreath on the Atatürk Monument with applause that lasted for minutes.
