The Lithium-Ion Battery Fire Test and Training Program, organized under the coordination of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye, was held in Istanbul with the participation of firefighters from different provinces.
A comprehensive training and test program was organized under the coordination of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye in order to be prepared for fires that may be caused by lithium-ion batteries. The program, planned in two stages as theoretical and practical, was held on June 12, 2025 at the Bahçelievler and Resneli campuses of the Istanbul Fire Department Training Center.
The theoretical part of the training was held between 10:00 and 12:00 in the morning at the Bahçelievler Campus, and the practical part was held between 14:30 and 16:30 at the Resneli Campus. Firefighters from Istanbul, Aksaray, Ankara, Antalya, Balıkesir, Bilecik, Elazığ, Erzincan, Erzurum, Kırşehir, Kilis, Kocaeli, Samsun, Yalova, Denizli and Kayseri provinces attended the trainings.
Information was provided on the causes of lithium-ion battery-related fires, the risks they may pose, intervention methods and new generation fire extinguishing agents as part of the event. In the application area, real fire tests conducted with the developed extinguishing agents were carefully monitored.
This training program, which heralds a new era in fire safety, attracted great interest from the participants. The event, where firefighters from all over Türkiye shared their knowledge and experience, aims to raise awareness against possible battery fires and increase intervention capacity.
