The ceremony, held on May 5, 2026, was attended by AFAD President Ali Hamza Pehlivan, Istanbul Deputy Governor Mahmut Hersanlıoğlu, and AFAD Istanbul Provincial Director Prof. Dr. Haluk Özener. Our directors represented the Istanbul Fire Department at the ceremony, where the challenging preparation process of our teams was crowned with the presentation of the badges.
Throughout the accreditation process of Intervention Capacity at International Standards, which began in 2025, our European and Anatolian Heavy Search and Rescue teams received top marks in many critical stages, including personnel training, technical equipment adequacy, and operational discipline. This achievement confirms their ability to respond at the highest level in the most complex disaster scenarios.
As the Istanbul Fire Department, we continue to work with our vision of being a "Pioneering Institution" that not only responds but also manages disaster risks and prepares in advance for all scenarios. The safety of our city is in safe hands thanks to the expertise and discipline of our teams.
