IMM continues its search and rescue activities in Düzce22 July 2019 Monday

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality teams continue to search and Rescue 5 citizens who disappeared in Melen Creek due to floods and landslides in Düzce, while the region continuing to heal its wounds in the region

Following the floods and landslides in Düzce on July 17, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) teams were transferred to the region upon the orders of Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu. 5-day search and rescue efforts continued uninterrupted, after the day of the disaster, IMM teams reached the lifeless body of a missing person. IMM teams are trying to reach 5 more citizens who have disappeared in Melen Creek. Teams in the region also meet the water and food needs of citizens.

- REMOVING DEVICES, CLOSING WAYS OPENING -
IMM teams under the management of AKOM, 5 maintenance machines belonging to the Department of Road Maintenance, continues to work uninterrupted in Akçakoca and Cumayeri districts to open the village roads, rescue vehicles trapped in the roads, closed grilles. In addition, IMM's construction machinery trucks and the heavy equipment the Special Provincial Administration and State Hydraulic Works are transported to the disaster areas as a short distance.

They are also continuing debris removal and road opening works in Dilaver, Uğurlu, Esma Hanım, Dokuz Değirmen and Iğdır Villages, which are damaged most by flood and landslide disaster.

- IMM MEETS CLEAN WATER NEED-
In the districts of Akçakoca and Cumayeri, due to the collapse of clean water networks, the 6 of 16-tonnes drinking water vehicles of Hamidiye Water Company provide clean water to the victims.

As of this morning, 3 combined vehicles belonging to ISKI General Directorate reached Cumayeri, one of them reached to Esma Hanım Village and the other two to Uğurlu Village and cleaning work began. On the other hand, the 6-personel intervention team belonging to the IMM Department of Fire Brigade are doing water evacuation and cleaning in the damaged mosque, school, health center, lodging, Agricultural Credit Cooperative and the homes of citizens in Esma Hanım Village.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Logistics Support Directorate Mobile Buffet meets the needs of citizens and staff food and beverage in Esma Hanim Village.
A team of 48 experts from IMM is working in the region.
