Training Facilities

The İBİTEM Büyükbakkalköy and Resneli Training Facilities

There are two training facilities of the Istanbul Fire Department: İBİTEM Büyükbakkalköy and Resneli Training Facility.

Büyükbakkalköy Training Facility is located on the Anatolian Side of the City. Fire and safety training and volunteer firefighting training are given to public and private organisations and institutions here. Also in-service courses are carried in this training centre. Various scenarios, simulations and role-plays are conducted in Büyükbakkalköy Training Facility.

Resneli Facility

Monitoring and Evaluation Building

Monitoring & recording courses and preparation for responses are carried out in this building. An observation room, meeting room, kitchen, WC, bathroom and a room of preparation for training are also available here.

Fire House  

The following trainings are conducted in the fire house:

• Techniques of proceeding in smoky and dark environments
• Finding the origin of a fire
• Searching & rescuing trapped people in a fire
• Smoke discharging techniques
• Training on personal protective equipment and thermal camera

Attack Container

• Observing the flare-up of unburned gasses
• Response techniques needed to implement during a flare-up
• Cooling efforts to prevent possible flare-ups.

Observation and Response Container

• Observing the developing processes of a fire
• Implementing proper and effective methods of responding
• Make responders prepared physically and mentally in high temperature and in smoky environments.

Fire Explosion Container

• Observing the occurrence of a fire explosion in enclosed spaces.
• Recognising the risks of explosion (backdraft) in enclosed spaces.

Fire Pans

The correct techniques usage of extinguishers are taught by using fire pans.
