Aslan handed over the seat to 4th grade student Zeynep Mira Örs23 April 2026 Thursday

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan handed over his mayoral seat to fourth-grade student Zeynep Mira Örs on the occasion of April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children's Day. Örs's first instruction was, "I want areas where children can run safely." Aslan, in turn, spoke about the visionary projects initiated by the elected Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu for children, saying, "That's why our Republic is safe, that's why Türkiye's future is so bright. As long as there are bright children like you, this country will never be defeated."

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Deputy Mayor Nuri Aslan laid a wreath at the Republic Monument in Taksim, Beyoğlu, on the occasion of the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day. Afterwards, Aslan went to his office at the IMM Saraçhane Service Building and hosted a group of children. He received five children from Cumhuriyet Primary School in Sultangazi, along with their school principal and class teacher, in his office, and then handed over his seat to Zeynep Mira Örs, a fourth-grade student. Örs, to whom Aslan gave the floor, said, “On this unique holiday, gifted to us children by Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, I feel great pride and happiness to be sitting in the mayor's chair of Istanbul, the most beautiful city in the world. Every child should have a 'happy card'. Let all theaters, museums, entertainment centers, and public transportation be free for children one day a week. On behalf of all children, I would like to thank our esteemed Mayor for handing over his duties to me today.”
