A fire broke out in a forested area on Yakacık Road in Velibaba Neighbourhood, Kartal. The Fire Department was called at 13:36 and fire crews from  Pendik, Yakacık, Kartal, Kurtköy, Sultanbeyli and Orhanlı stations attended the incident. 42 firefighters in 15 vehicles, arriving at the scene soon along with the Flame Eagle (the fire helicopter of the Department) and the extinguishing helicopter of the Istanbul Regional Directorate of Forestry, worked hard and brought the blaze under control. While the fire resulted in damage to the forest, no one was injured or dead.
