Awning has collapsed under heavy snow in Istanbul, killing two people10 January 2017 Tuesday
Heavy snowfall caused the awning at a mosque in Ataköy, Bakırköy to collapse during prayer time.
The awning at a mosque in the Ataköy neighborhood of Bakirköy district collapsed under the weight of snow. The Fire Department was called at 13:46 and fire crews from Bakırköy, Kocasinan and Siyavuşpaşa stations attended the incident. The firefighters, arriving at the scene soon, rescued 40 people injured including heavy-injured four people. They were taken to hospital. The incident resulted in one death.
