The 13th World Firefighters Games was held in the city of Chungju, South Korea bringing together more than 6,000 firefighters from across the globe. Istanbul's firefighters won the gold medal in the 'Best Performance and Walk' category.
The sports team of Istanbul Fire Department participated in the 13th World Firefighter Games, taking place in Chungju City of South Korea from 10th to 17th October 2018. The 33-firefighter-team became the best "opening show making" and "marching" team in the opening ceremony of the Games.
The team became the most successful team winning 1 cup, 2 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals at the end of the first two days of the Games.
2018 Chungju World Firefighters Games is the international festival which is biennially held to promote world firefighters’ friendship through competition in sport.
– This event is the festival of harmony and friendship that firefighters all over the world can join and enjoy together regardless of winning or losing.
– 75 sporting events including track & field, soccer, and toughest firefighter alive
– Participates : 6,000(approx.) athletes from 50 countries
